Easter crafts for kids with paper, not a specialty kit

Easter crafts for kids can be paper and a walk. A nest from strips. A garland of simple egg or flower shapes. Petals in a book, then a card. The spring table does not require a dye kit, a branded bunny, or a bag of plastic eggs. Photograph the basket or the bowl, then put the phone away. If your household marks the season more than the holiday, the same objects still belong on the table.

What you need

Pastel packs are optional. Kraft, leftover green construction paper, and a grocery bag already look like April once they sit in a nest shape.

Time, who is at the table, adult jobs

A nest or a short garland is a weeknight. Pressing flowers is a week of waiting with a five-minute start. Preschool coils and glues; adult cuts ovals and any slits. If the hunt is outside, the craft still finishes indoors — same pattern as a rainy day when the grass is wet. Scissors, knives, and glass vases stay with the parent.

Five spring-table makes

1. Paper-strip nest

Adult cuts a handful of long paper strips. Kids coil them in a bowl or on a plate, gluing overlaps until it holds a round. Set it in the middle of the table. Fill with nothing, or with a cloth napkin, or with eggs you will eat. Not a character. About twenty-five minutes. Photograph it in daylight.

2. Paper egg or flower garland

3. Pressed-flower card

Start a week before you need it. Blotting paper, a heavy book, named petals. When dry, glue one or two onto a folded card. Full method: how to press flowers with kids. Five to seven days. No microwave shortcut required. If Easter morning arrives too soon, send the card later. Spring lasts.

4. A dish of what you walked

A plate. A few clean, named blooms or leaves. Kids arrange. Adult keeps water shallow if you add any, and keeps berries and unknown plants off the table. This is a centerpiece you can compost. It is also what you do when the craft aisle is closed.

5. Paper basket wrap

If you already have a tote or a bowl for a hunt, wrap it in a band of decorated paper the child colored. Tape on the inside. You are not building a woven basket from a kit. You are making the vessel look like it belongs to this house. Photograph it filled, then empty it and recycle the band.
